The Equine Affaire November 11-14, 2004 West Springfield, MA
November 10th, Wednesday afternoon found us on the road heading to the 5th annual Equine Affaire in Springfield MA. This is the
fourth year that Cindi and I have attended with our Lippitts. Last year, we had 7 Lippitts between us, this year we only brought
two, Randallane Genesis and Cindi’s Woodbrook Jordan Russell to represent a stallion and mare. I had two of my girls with me,
Stefanie and Colleen. Upon arriving, the whole Capobianco family was already there with the stalls disinfected and filled with fresh
sawdust. What a welcoming!! Cindi also had Faith Wandland and Cindi's decorator/designer, Karen Perres. We all got to work
setting up our area. The end wall display was already well underway. Cindi has incredible taste and knack of decorating. Soon
the black crushed velvet curtains were hung and stall doors lined. Antique gold frames matched the gold shimmering material
draping the boxes adding dimension and elegance to the floor. Maroon valances continued the theme and Championship ribbons
added flavor to the walls and doors. Friday brought a mixed bag of weather, but even the first snow storm didn’t deter people from
coming out, it was constantly busy with a buzz of people.
In thanks to the LMBA for helping us maintain our presence financially, we were proud to place LMBA Sales and Stallion binders
in full color (thank you Judy Long!), the LMBA Sales List (all but two were taken), the LMBA brochures and Membership
Applications on our display tables, and extra LMBA Guide and Bulletins were offered. We made at least one sale and got many
contacts for future sales. On the front wall display was a dispenser with the brochures, sales list, and Membership Applications
to be taken at will by the public. Even though we only brought the two Lippitts between us this year, it seemed to fill everyone’s
interest and questions. Genesis and Jordan were SO well appreciated and so well behaved that even Deb Putnam, Equine Affaire
co-ordinator commented on them being wonderful ambassador’s for the breed. Jordan spent most of the time with her door open
greeting every little hand that passed for a pat. Genesis stood patiently for those who just had to feel that crest! Lots of photos
were taken and magazine interviews done for continued exposure for the Lippitts.
Thursday through Sunday is a long time to reorganize our family responsibilities and chores. It is, however, worth it for the new
people you meet, the excitement that we are able to give to the public regarding our Lippitts, reigniting past relationships year after
year, and hearing about our foals of the past from their proud owners. Work yes, but so rewarding!
Special thanks to Cindi, Joe, Anna and Ray Capobianco, Meghan Stewart and Faith Wandland for all of your work, dedication and
support to me and my girls. Thanks to Stefanie Sibley, Colleen Scott, Emma St. Amand, Sarah Shearer and Meredith Gralenski
for your help in grooming, and stall cleaning for Genesis, and for giving the “Lippitt History” lesson to countless people; also for
making the event so much fun and so successful, lets plan on it again for next year !
Yours for Lippitts,
Crescent Peirce
