Wentzville Christmas Parade 2009
December 6, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. Wentzville Historical District Wentzville, MO
The spirit of the Christmas season is upon us and with it came the Seventh Annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony held in Wentzville, Missouri. This year it seemed that the parade was even larger than the previous year. Parents and their children, plus many enthusiastic residents lined Pearce Boulevard to catch a glimpse of Santa! There were floats, decorated cars, singing groups, individuals on foot, and that jolly, old elf called “Santa” as well as Wentzville’s only live, costumed Morgan horse! Mint Jacob, a Lippitt Morgan stallion, and I were invited to participate in this year’s parade. My daughter, Melissa, decided that she would dress Jacob for this festive event.
Jingle bells placed round four well-formed feet A stocking and bear clipped to his western seat A large, red ribbon graced his dark chestnut tail And holly with berries adorned his sides without fail Christmas ribbons were braided in his mane of red and gold With Jacob’s festive rider atop was indeed a sight to behold Trotting down Wentzville’s decorated streets This happy Lippitt Morgan greeted all with treats!
This was a well-attended parade and we had the best of times. The parade ended at the Fire House with a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus! There were plenty of goodies for the children such as cookies, candy canes and steaming hot chocolate to take the chill off. Thank-you to all the businesses, organizations and individuals who participated in the parade!
